The Fastmount system uses a pair of clips (male and female) that allow panels to be mounted and removed quickly and invisibly. The female clip is fixed to the structure and the male clip to the decorative panel. When pressed together, the panel locks securely with no visible screws or hardware.
The main advantages are: completely invisible fastening, quick assembly and disassembly without special tools, reusable thousands of times, a wide product range for different applications, certified fire-rated versions, and compatibility with all types of materials and thicknesses.
Fastmount clips are made from high-strength engineering plastic (POM - polyoxymethylene), designed to withstand heavy loads, temperature changes and marine environments. Fire-rated versions use special materials certified to IMO regulations and building standards.
Fastmount offers three main fixing methods: adhesive (with high-strength 3M VHB tape), screw fixing (for surfaces where adhesive is not viable) and CNC routing (for seamless integration into the panel). Some models combine several methods.
Adhesive-fix clips use 3M VHB (Very High Bond) tape, an ultra-high-strength acrylic adhesive that provides a permanent bond to most surfaces. It is resistant to temperature, humidity and vibration.
Yes, many Fastmount models are designed for CNC routing installation. Fastmount provides DXF files and detailed technical specifications for programming CNC routers. This ensures perfect precision and reduces installation time.
Fastmount clips are manufactured to precision engineering tolerances. Depending on the model, they allow adjustments of +/-0.5 mm to +/-2 mm, making it easier to align panels even when the underlying structures are not perfectly uniform.
Fastmount is used across a wide range of applications: superyacht and boat interiors, luxury retail (Gucci, Louis Vuitton), offices, hotels, restaurants, airports, hospitals, designer furniture, motorhomes, and any space where quick access behind panels is required.
Fastmount clips are tested to withstand over 1,000 assembly and disassembly cycles without loss of performance. Under normal conditions of use, the system's service life is virtually unlimited.
Yes, Fastmount offers fire-rated versions (FR - Fire Rated) across several ranges. These versions are certified to IMO regulations for use on vessels and comply with building standards for public buildings. Fire-rated models are available in the SLX, Very Low Profile and Standard ranges.
Fastmount offers a custom product development service for special projects. If no standard clip meets your requirements, the Fastmount engineering team can design a bespoke solution. Contact us for more information.
PanelSafe and SeisMount are Fastmount's seismic safety systems that ensure panels remain securely fixed during earthquakes and intense vibrations. They are certified for use in seismic zones and are ideal for hospitals, data centres, public buildings and vessels.
Load capacity varies by range: Very Low Profile supports up to 3 kg per clip, Standard up to 5 kg, Low Profile up to 8 kg, SLX up to 25 kg, and the SeisMount system up to 225 kg per bracket. Total panel load is calculated by multiplying by the number of clips used.

As a general rule, 4 to 8 clips per square metre are recommended, depending on panel weight and the range used. For lightweight panels (up to 5 kg/m2) with the Standard range, 4 clips per m2 are sufficient. For heavier panels or areas subject to vibration (yachts, transport), 6-8 clips per m2 are recommended. Fastmount provides specific positioning guides for each product.
Yes, Fastmount works on curved surfaces provided the radius of curvature allows contact between the male and female clips. The PC-AF1 clip from the Standard Range is especially suited to irregular surfaces, as it incorporates automatic adjustment of up to 2 mm to compensate for unevenness. On yachts, where hulls have curved shapes, Fastmount is routinely used without issues.
The recommended spacing between clips varies depending on the range and panel weight. For the Standard Range (PC-M1B, 5 kg per clip), a spacing of 200-300 mm between clips is recommended. For the Low Profile Range, 150-250 mm. For very heavy panels with SLX clips, the spacing can be greater (300-400 mm) thanks to their higher load capacity. A clip should always be placed near each corner and edge of the panel.
The surface must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease or residues. Clean with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and allow to dry completely before applying the adhesive clip. The ideal ambient temperature for installation is between 15 C and 35 C. The 3M VHB tape reaches maximum bond strength 72 hours after application. Do not apply on flaking paint, untreated porous surfaces or materials with a non-stick finish.
It depends on the installation method. Adhesive and surface-mount clips (such as PC-SM1AC, LP-SM8AS or SLX-M5) can be installed without special tools and are suitable for DIY. CNC-routed clips (such as PC-F1A, VL-F3 or LP-F8) require a CNC router or drill with Fastmount-specific bits, so they are typically installed by a joiner or specialist workshop. Contact us if you need a recommendation for installers in your area.
Standard Fastmount clips (POM - polyoxymethylene) operate in a temperature range of -40 C to +80 C, making them suitable for most interior and sheltered exterior applications. Fire-rated versions (FR) withstand higher temperatures and are certified to IMO regulations for vessels. Metal Range clips (MC-SSM10B, MC-SSF10B) in 316 stainless steel withstand even higher temperatures, ideal for galleys and engine rooms.
For plasterboard, the recommended female clip is the SLX-F40R, specifically designed for plasterboard with surface mounting using wall plugs. For the fire-rated version, use the SLX-F40R-FR. The male clip depends on panel weight: SLX-M5 for panels up to 5 kg, SLX-M10 for up to 10 kg, or SLX-M18 for heavy panels up to 18 kg. The SLX-F40R + SLX-M10 combination is the most popular for offices.
The PC-DC1 is a dual female clip that joins two adjacent panels on a single fixing point. Instead of needing two separate female clips (one per panel), the PC-DC1 holds both panels at the joint. It is widely used in wall cladding where panels butt up against each other, creating a clean joint line and allowing each panel to be removed individually.
The VL-F3 is the standard female clip in the VLP range with a profile of just 1.5 mm from the panel surface. The VL-F3H (H stands for Heavy Duty) has a slightly higher profile that compensates for gaps between panel and substrate of up to 3 mm. Use the VL-F3 when panel and substrate are flush, and the VL-F3H when there is a gap or irregularity to compensate for.
For yacht cabins, the most common combination is LP-F8 (female clip, CNC-routed into the panel) + LP-M8A (male clip, screw-fixed to the bulkhead). If you prefer adhesive mounting without routing, use LP-AF8A (adhesive female) + LP-SM8AS (adhesive male). For heavy cabin panels (wardrobes, headboards), the LP-SMX offers 15 kg extraction force. The Low Profile Range is specifically designed for the marine environment.
The TC-F6H is sewn directly onto the fabric or cushion cover using the four sewing holes it incorporates. It is sewn with strong thread (marine upholstery thread) to the underside or reverse of the cover. Once sewn in, the clip slides over the male TC-SM6S or TC-M6 fixed to the structure. The cushion is held firmly and invisibly, and can be removed in seconds for cleaning or changing covers.
Both are safety retention cables for ceiling panels, but they differ in mounting method. The PS-150 is fixed with a self-tapping screw, while the PS-S150E (S stands for Surface) uses surface mounting, with no drilling required. Additionally, the PS-S150E incorporates an elastomeric connector (the E) that absorbs vibrations and allows some flexibility. Both support panels up to 150 kg and feature a 150 mm stainless steel cable.
Fastmount clips are extremely lightweight. A standard PC-M1B clip weighs approximately 2 grams. VLP range clips weigh less than 1 gram each. SLX clips, being larger and more robust, weigh between 3 and 8 grams depending on the model. Metal Range clips (MC-SSM10B) in 316 stainless steel are the heaviest, at around 15 grams. The weight added to the panel is virtually negligible in all cases.
Among panel clips, the Fastmount SLX-M25 has the highest extraction force at 25 kg per clip. A panel with 8 SLX-M25 clips can support up to 200 kg total load. If you need safety retention (rather than extraction), the SeisMount PS-SR225SS supports up to 225 kg per bracket in stainless steel, designed for ceiling panels in seismic zones.
Yes, the SLX Range is specifically designed for plasterboard. The SLX-F40R female clip is fixed to the plasterboard with the included expansion plugs, and the SLX-F1.5R is a more compact version for the same use. For plasterboard walls with metal studs behind, you can also screw directly into the stud using surface-mount clips from other ranges (PC-SM2, LP-SM8AS).
Yes, Fastmount is widely used in the motorhome and campervan industry. The Low Profile Range is the most popular for this use because it withstands road vibrations and has a compact profile that saves space. Panels can be quickly removed to access electrical systems, plumbing or insulation. VHB adhesive fixing is especially practical in campervans as it avoids drilling into the bodywork.
Yes, Fastmount is used in train and tram interiors and in some aeronautical projects. Fire-rated versions (FR - Fire Rated) meet the fire resistance regulations required for public transport. The system provides quick access to wiring and systems behind panels, which is critical for fleet maintenance. Contact us for sector-specific certifications.
Yes, it is one of the most popular applications in architecture. Acoustic panels are typically lightweight and need to be removable for cleaning or reconfiguring the space. The Very Low Profile Range (VL-F3 + VL-M3) is ideal because its 2.5 mm profile does not affect the panel's acoustic properties. For heavy large-format acoustic panels, the SLX Range provides the required strength.
Yes. Fastmount clips are made from POM (polyoxymethylene), an engineering plastic that does not corrode, does not absorb moisture and is resistant to chemicals, salt spray and marine environments. This sets them apart from hinges, magnets or metal catches that rust on boats. The Metal Range clips (MC-SSM10B, MC-SSF10B) use 316 stainless steel, the same grade used in high-end marine hardware.
Yes, Fastmount is ideal for kitchen and bathroom furniture where frequent access to the interior is needed (plumbing, traps, connections). Doors and panels are removed without tools and refitted in seconds. For yacht galleys or areas with elevated temperatures, the Metal Range (316 stainless steel) provides high-temperature resistance. The Textile Range allows upholstered panels to be fixed as decorative furniture fronts.
For solid wood panels (which typically weigh over 10 kg/m2), the higher-capacity ranges are recommended: SLX (up to 25 kg per clip with the SLX-M25), Low Profile (up to 15 kg with the LP-SMX) or Standard with the PC-SM2H (10 kg per clip). The ideal installation method is CNC routing to integrate the female clip into the reverse of the wood panel. Calculate the total panel weight and divide by the load capacity of the chosen clip to determine the number of clips required.
CNC-routed clips (such as PC-F1A, VL-F3, LP-F8) are recessed into a cavity routed into the reverse of the panel, sitting completely flush. They offer the cleanest, most professional finish. Surface-mount clips (such as PC-SM2, LP-SM8AS, SLX-M5) are fixed directly onto the surface with adhesive or screws, with no routing required. They are quicker to install but the panel sits slightly away from the substrate. The choice depends on the desired finish and whether a CNC router is available.
Historically the best-selling range is the Standard (PC series), particularly the PC-F1A + PC-M1B combination, which is the original Fastmount system with over 20 years on the market. In the marine sector, the Low Profile Range dominates thanks to its vibration resistance. In architecture and interior design, the SLX Range is growing rapidly due to its versatility with plasterboard. The Very Low Profile Range is increasingly popular for thin panels and decorative laminates.
VHB adhesive: ideal for quick installation without tools, smooth non-porous surfaces, motorhomes (no drilling into the bodywork) and when no CNC router is available. Screw fixing: best for porous or rough surfaces where adhesive does not grip well, metal bulkheads on boats, and when immediate holding strength is needed without waiting 72 hours for curing. CNC routing: the professional method for joinery workshops and shipyards, offering the cleanest finish and the highest alignment precision.
For panels over 15 kg you need high-capacity clips: the SLX-M18 (18 kg per clip) or the SLX-M25 (25 kg per clip) are the best options. For a 20 kg panel, for example, 4 SLX-M25 clips would give a total capacity of 100 kg -- more than enough with a safety margin. If the panel is ceiling-mounted and needs additional safety retention, combine the clips with PanelSafe PS-150 or PS-S150E cables.

No, Fastmount clips require no maintenance whatsoever. POM (polyoxymethylene) needs no lubrication, does not rust, does not degrade under indoor UV light and retains its mechanical properties throughout its service life. Simply make sure the clips are free from dirt or debris before reinstalling a panel. In dusty construction environments, a wipe with a dry cloth is sufficient.
Yes, in most cases. If the male clip (fixed to the substrate) is damaged, it can be extracted with the corresponding extraction tool (CT-13A for Standard, CT-19 for Low Profile) and replaced with a new one without touching the panel. If the female clip (in the panel) is damaged, simply remove that particular panel and replace the clip. Adhesive clips are removed with heat (heat gun) and replaced with a new clip.
Painting directly over the clips is not recommended, as paint could interfere with the engagement mechanism. Ideally, install the clips after painting the panel and substrate. If you need to paint with clips already in place, mask them with painter's tape during painting. The clips are designed to be hidden behind the panel, so painting them is normally unnecessary.
Fastmount clips are made from recyclable materials (POM and 316 stainless steel). Being reusable for thousands of cycles, they reduce material waste compared with single-use fastening methods such as adhesives or sealants. POM contains no formaldehyde or volatile organic compounds (VOCs). For projects seeking LEED or BREEAM certification, Fastmount can contribute to materials and indoor air quality credits.
